Fall 2012 Rolling Admission


It is OFFICIAL- the School of Nursing is implementing rolling admission for the Fall 2012 semester.
 
Rolling admission allows applicants who applied for priority admission as well as new applicants to apply at a later date; applicants will be notified about their admission status by 5 P.M. Friday, June 22, 2012.
 
The deadline for Fall 2012 Rolling Admission is 5 P.M. on Friday, June 1, 2012
 
Applicants may have a maximum of:
o    One remaining prerequisite science course (4 credits)
o    Two remaining non science prerequisite courses (6 credits)
                   to be completed in the Summer 2012 semesters.  
o    Grades earned in these remaining prerequisite classes must either maintain or strengthen GPAs
 
Applicants MUST:
·         Be admitted to Texas State University (http://www.admissions.txstate.edu/). Your application will be considered upon admission into Texas State. This process can take up to 6 weeks.
 
·         Have a prerequisite GPA of 2.50 or higher and a science GPA of 3.0 or higher.
o    A 3.0 prerequisite GPA is recommended in order to be competitive in the application process.
·         Complete all prerequisite courses before the first day of Nursing School.
 
·         Submit to the School of Nursing:
  •          SON application
  •          Two completed reference forms
  •          Persuasive personal essay
  •          Copies of all college transcripts – unofficial transcripts are OK
  •          TEAS V scores for 2012 rolling admission only may be taken twice between January 15, 2011 and June1, 2012
  • A $25 money order made out to Texas State
 
Qualified applicants will receive a Fast Pass. Upon receipt, they are to initiate their Criminal Background Check immediately. 
 
Students will be notified of admission status on Friday, June 22, 2012.
 
After conditional admission acceptance, students are to complete the following admission procedures:
Submit a $105 money order (made out to Texas State University) as a non-refundable admission deposit that will be applied to their fee for access to the Neehr-Perfect electronic health records.
 
 Make an appointment with their healthcare provider to complete the Health Certificate and Immunization Forms. 
o    All immunizations including date of boosters on the Immunizations and Tests Form. Please note that the Hepatitis B series takes several months to administer.
o    Successful completion of the Health Certificate stating student is in good physical health and free from listed diseases. Note: Clinical affiliates may require additional immunizations.
 
A clear criminal background check, thus allowing the student to sit for the NCLEX (National Council Licensure
Examination for Registered Nurses) after graduating from the School of Nursing.   Forward to the SON the blue
postcard (not a copy) or a copy of a declaratory order letter from the Texas Board of Nurses.
 
 Drug test sometime between August 1 through 12; must be negative to begin the program.
 
 Basic Life Support (CPR) for Healthcare Providers.
 
Documentation of health insurance for each semester you are attending Nursing School.
 
Attend New Student Orientation on Thursday, August 23 and Friday, August 24 2012 at the School of Nursing.
