Dr. Cathy Messinger, Clinical Associate Professor and PMHNP Program Coordinator
Dr. Messinger graduated with her BSN and MSN from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE in 1994 and 1997. She completed a DNP from the University of Iowa in 2013. She completed a Post-Master’s as a PMHNP from Western Kentucky University in 2019. She taught in the FNP program at Clarkson College in Omaha, NE from 2002 to 2013. She started teaching in the FNP program at Texas State University in 2014 and is now the Coordinator of the PMHNP program. Practice areas have included family practice, cardiology, and the emergency department. Current practice is in a behavioral health clinic with an emphasis on addictions. Dr. Messinger’s practice and research interests include addiction medicine, rural health care, and behavioral health focusing on those patients with a trauma history.
