    What this team member needs to succeed at the Agency:

    • Must be a Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing and currently licensed by the state.
    • Must be CPR Certified.
    • Must be Bilingual Spanish
    • Must be able to relate positively and favorably to residents and families and to work cooperatively with other associates.
    • One or more years in a home health or hospice agency or in a hospital setting.
    • Previous home health and/or hospice experience preferred.
    • Knowledgeable of Medicare and Medicaid guidelines.
    • Clear understanding of Medicare Hospice Benefits and certification requirements.
    • Working knowledge of home health care and the principles and techniques of professional nursing and required documentation.
    • The nurse requires a high level of skill to work in someone’s home.
    • It requires excellent rapport, understanding, and communication with the patients and their family members.

    The Bilingual Spanish Director of Nursing located at the Austin Agency, assists with the planning, coordination, leading, controlling and evaluation of home health services. S/he is responsible for coordination and liaison with appropriate parent and affiliate departments and committees; implementation of policies and guidelines for, and obtaining input from, service personnel in addition to providing professional input to related administrative systems. S/he interprets service needs to the DOS and/or administrator and acts as a client services administrative liaison.

    This position requires at least the following minimum requirements:

    • Current and valid Registered Nursing license in the state(s) practicing.
    • Bachelor degree in nursing preferred but not required.
    • Experience as a home health and/or hospice professional with training and experience in health service administration.
    • Strong computer skills.
    • Preferred but not required at least one (1) year of supervisory or administrative experience in home health care, hospice or related health programs.
    • Preferred but not required one (1) year of experience in personnel management, including hiring, supervision, evaluation and benefits administration.
    • Current CPR Certification.
    • Proven skills in business and financial management preferred.
    • Must be proficient in clinical nursing skills and be able to train/teach field staff.
